Before the installer arrives

Garage Floor Preparation Checklist

Good site information helps produce a realistic scope and prevents avoidable delays.

Before requesting a quote

  • Measure approximate length and width
  • Photograph the entire floor in daylight
  • Take close-ups of cracks, paint and stains
  • Explain previous coatings or sealers
  • Note water entry or damp patches
  • Describe vehicle, gym or workshop use

Before installation

  • Remove vehicles and loose storage
  • Arrange access to power and the floor area
  • Confirm who moves fixed cabinets or appliances
  • Keep silicone, paint and construction work away
  • Plan alternate parking through the full cure period
  • Keep pets and children away from the work zone

What not to do

Do not apply a sealer, degreaser residue, silicone or DIY patch immediately before installation without telling the contractor. New contamination can change the preparation and coating plan.
